The Pickleball Referee Excellence Program (PREP) is dedicated to preparing aspiring referees through expert coaching, structured training, and hands-on on-court practice.
Our Mission
PREP exists to raise the standard of officiating in pickleball by giving aspiring referees the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to succeed in their USA Pickleball credential assessments. We don't issue credentials — we prepare you to earn them.
Expert Coaching
Instruction led by experienced trainers and USAPickleball Certified Referees who have been through the process themselves.
Structured Curriculum
A clear, step-by-step path from Verified Trainee through Level 1 and beyond, aligned with USAP standards.
On-Court Practice
Real match experience in a supportive environment so you build confidence before your official assessment.

Every PREP instructor is an active USAPickleball Certified Referee with real tournament experience. They bring firsthand knowledge of what assessors look for and how to prepare effectively.
Lead Instructor
USAPickleball Certified Referee & Head Trainer
Years of tournament officiating experience at regional and national levels. Passionate about growing the referee community and helping trainees succeed.
Senior Coach
USAPickleball Certified Referee & Level 2 Trainer
Specializes in rules interpretation and on-court mechanics. Has guided dozens of trainees through their Level 1 and Level 2 assessments.
About USAP Credentials
USA Pickleball issues all official referee credentials. PREP is an independent training program — we prepare you for the USAP assessment process but do not issue credentials ourselves.
Verified Trainee
The starting point. Requires active USAPickleball membership. PREP training begins here.
Level 1 Referee
Awarded by USAP after passing the Level 1 assessment. PREP's core training program prepares you for this milestone.
Level 2 Referee
An advanced credential for referees ready to officiate at higher-level tournaments. PREP offers advanced coaching for this path.
